Name Change Agent in Curchorem

Goa was reconstituted into three districts at the end of December 2025. A new district named Kushavati, after the river, was carved out of South Goa, with its headquarters at Quepem, and it took in four talukas, Quepem, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Canacona. Curchorem is in Quepem taluka, so this town moved with it. Every document you hold from before that date names South Goa. Anything issued since names Kushavati.

Right now you will see both in use. Some official listings have been updated and others still show South Goa, because the administration is being set up in stages and the South Goa office is handling the work in the meantime. That is normal for a change this recent. What it means for your file is simple. The affidavit has to name the district as your identity proof shows it, record the older version, and state that the district was reorganised in December 2025. Without that line, the two documents look like two different places.

Curchorem and Sanvordem are twin towns on either side of the Zuari, and the station that serves them is listed as Kudchade, but is just as commonly called Curchorem or Sanvordem. The town itself is Curchorem in English, Kudchade in Konkani, and Vodlemol Cacora in older use, while the municipal body is the Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council. Curchorem sits in Quepem taluka and Sanvordem across the river in Sanguem taluka.

So a single family can hold a railway pass, a school certificate, a municipal receipt and an Aadhaar with four different versions of the same place. A name change file is checked on the name and the address together, so we settle the wording before drafting, copy the identity proof exactly, and record every other version in the affidavit rather than leaving an officer to work it out.

Curchorem and Sanvordem sit in the mining belt, and for decades a great many households here depended on it, directly or through trucking, workshops and contracts. Mining in the state has been through long suspensions, and a lot of people moved to other work, to other states or abroad. The paperwork from those years stayed behind.

An old appointment letter, a provident fund record or a contractor's card can name a company that no longer operates, with the name spelt as it was written then. Years later, when a provident fund claim or a background check comes up, that spelling is compared with an Aadhaar made much more recently, and now with a district that has changed as well. The affidavit has to name the old employer, the old spelling, the old district and your present records together.
