On 15 August 1997, as a gift marking fifty years of independence, the then Chief Minister inaugurated the new district at Male Mahadeshwara Hills, with the Deputy Chief Minister and several members of the legislature inaugurating the Deputy Commissioner's office at Chamarajanagara. The page then states that this district was one of seven new districts formed on that day, and names them, including Udupi, Davanagere, Haveri and Koppal.
Now read the other districts' own websites. Haveri's administration gives 24 August 1997 as the day its district was formed. Koppal's administration and its district court both record that Koppal remained part of Raichur district until 1 April 1998. Three government websites, one reorganisation, three different dates. None of them is lying. An announcement, a notification and the day an office actually opens are three different events, and each site quotes the one that mattered to it.
This Town Was Renamed After a King Born Here, and Sources Disagree Which King
The district administration's history page states it plainly. Chamaraja Wodeyar, the Wodeyar of Mysuru, was born here, and hence this place was renamed after him. The earlier name is given as Arikottara, and in some accounts as Sri Arikottara. So the town carries the name of a king because he happened to be born in it.
Then look at which king. A widely read encyclopedia entry names Chamaraja Wodeyar the Ninth in its summary box, links to Chamaraja Wodeyar the First in the sentence about the man born here, and carries a citation needed marker against that sentence. One article, two different kings, and an admission that the claim is unsourced. A whole town is named after somebody and the record cannot settle who.

A relative who is not a party to it.
This one is worth stopping on because of who it is written for. Government staff are precisely the readers who will accept a sentence like that without question and then spend a fortnight chasing two officers for signatures they never needed. If somebody has told you this, ask them which rule requires it. There is nothing in the Department of Publication's published guidelines that does.
Why the National Paper Is Not Optional Here
One page ranking for this state puts the reason well, and we will give it the credit. For the Central route it says one English national daily and one regional language newspaper, and adds that national daily matters here, because a local paper does not satisfy the central process the way it might for state purposes. That is the right explanation of a step most pages simply list.
So both notices go in, one local and one national, and both must carry your father's or husband's name with your full residential address, worded identically to the affidavit including every alias. Not Every Case in Chamarajanagara Needs a Gazette
A name error in a birth certificate is corrected by the Registrar of Births and Deaths at the body that registered the birth, under section 15 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.
