Indianetzone's page on this district states that Simdega lies between 20 degrees 10 minutes and 20 degrees 40 minutes north latitude. Every other source, including the district's own listings, places Simdega at about 22 degrees 37 minutes north. Twenty degrees north is roughly three hundred kilometres further south, well inside Odisha. The same page then says the responsibility of general administration of Latehar district lies with the Deputy Commissioner, on a page that is entirely about Simdega. Latehar is a different district in another division, and that sentence has simply been left in from somewhere else.
Separately, one district data site gives 1 April 2001 as the creation date. The district's own listings and every government source we found give 30 April 2001. A month out, in a field where the exact date matters.
Your Older Papers Correctly Name a District You Never Lived In
The chain is short but it catches people out. Gumla district was carved out of Ranchi district in 1983. Until 30 April 2001 Simdega was a sub division of Gumla, and it was made a separate district from that date. So a paper issued in this area before 1983 correctly names Ranchi, one issued between 1983 and April 2001 correctly names Gumla, and anything before 15 November 2000 also names Bihar. Three district names and two state names, for one house.
Nobody in your family moved. The lines moved around them.
